Creating Joy with Rachel Nelson of Conscious Soundscapes in Alberta, Canada

How does Rachel Create Joy?

Rachel Nelson of Conscious Soundscapes

Rachel Nelson is an Intuitive Sound Healing Guide based way up in the Canadian Rockies in Alberta, Canada. We Met Rachel in 2021 on the Clubhouse App where Rachel has been hard at work building her Conscious Soundscapes virtual community - a place to gather live on social audio and listen and play instruments together with people all over the world. We recorded a couple long-form interviews with Rachel over the past year on Instagram Live and Zoom, which are now edited these together along with footage from Alberta, Costa Rica, and New York to bring you this 40-minute video portrait of Rachel and the story of Conscious Soundscapes.

Watch our video interview with Rachel to learn these and other practices to bring joy, process grief, and find the infinite magic in everyday moments:

As an intuitive musician and Sound Healing Facilitator, Nelson has a vast collection of sound healing instruments including alchemy crystal singing bowls, handpans, chimes, kalimbas, sansulas, shruti box pro, gongs, voice and more that she uses to guide wellness journeys. From our WE PLAY WELL TOGETHER instrument collection, Rachel added Chimes, Kalimbas, Tongue Drums, and ultimately found her beloved musical companion "Kabuto" - a Spacedrum Handpan which she began taking on IRL journeys on the back of a scooter with googly-eyes on its backpack case so that he could "see" (#kabutogo) the adventures he was having. Last year she played Kabuto every day for 222 days in a row to audiences live on Clubhouse!

Rachel is tons of fun and coined the terms "ecstatic kalimba" and "conscious kalimba". She her plays instruments while standing in lines, getting a pedicure, or sitting with friends in cafes. She's even created bedtime sound rituals for sound sleeping...

While Social Audio is changing daily with many platforms coming and going, Rachel is currently experimenting with multiple apps so the best way to stay in touch with the Conscious Soundscapes Community is to sign up for Rachel's mailing list here on her website. Then you'll know when she goes live so you may join in the fun.
