How the MonChair by feeltone plays well with other instruments in C#

March's Monochord Monday Meetup fell on the Spring Equinox β€” a fitting moment for a session centered on harmony and resonance. The gathering was facilitated by Susan Maule, a longtime friend of We Play Well Together, who offered a live demonstration of how she uses the feeltone MonChair together with other instruments tuned in C#, including a Hokema Sansula, Zaphir "Sunray" Chime, crystal singing bowls, and a Native American-style flute.

How Susan Uses the MonChair in a Group Setting

Susan invites one participant at a time to sit in the MonChair while she strums the monochord strings on the back of the chair. The others gather around, listening as the sound envelops the person seated. Each participant takes a turn in a kind of circular ceremony β€” receiving the vibrations from within the chair while the group holds the sonic space around them.

While playing the MonChair, Susan layers in additional instruments tuned to C#: the Zaphir "Sunray" Chime, a specially tuned C# Sansula, select crystal singing bowls, and flute. The result is a rich, harmonically coherent soundscape that participants feel as much as hear.
