Monochord Playing Tips from the founder of feeltone!
While we're on "Summer Pause" enjoying the last days of warm weather, we thought we'd share with you a special replay video from summer adventures in Germany at the feeltone Company's new Headquarters.
Over four decades ago, Ingo Böhme founded the feeltone Company in Germany. He started building wood tongue drums, expanded into creating sound therapy furniture including the Sound Wave, Sound Chair and the Sound Table, and in 2010 created the now iconic feeltone Monolina and Monolini portable monochord lines that have grown in such popularity with the global sound meditation community.
In summer of 2025, WE PLAY WELL TOGETHER's Creative Director Joule L'Adara spent a month in their new headquarters: located in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Region of Northern Germany, in a charming 3-story repurposed Mill that now houses Ingo and his wife Martina, a workshop space for trainings, and a vacation rental where visitors can stay and work with feeltone instruments and receive sound healing sessions. Ingo was the special guest for Monochord Monday Meetup where he shared his own special tips for playing his instruments including lining up Monolinas and Monolinis to play together - by setting them up one above the other using the floor and medium-sized U-Stands and strumming down both of them. He also then demonstrated a special bridge note technique - in which he steadies the hand on the side of the Monolina and flicks his fingers quickly over the accent notes to create a "tremolo" effect.
