Sri Kala unravels us (in the best possible way) with Kalimba & Voice
We launched our Kalimba Campfire back in 2021 on the Social Audio App Clubhouse — which allows people to connect through voice alone. It became the perfect platform to gather our community, letting players share their kalimbas and other instruments without the scrutiny of being on video. We now host live sessions on Zoom as well, keeping the same format where participants can play with mics and cameras off.
A bonus with Zoom is that we can capture video from our featured musical guests and share it with the wider We Play Well Together community.
Sri Kala at Kalimba Campfire: March 2025
On March 5th, 2025, we were absolutely enchanted by featured guest Sri Kala, who wowed us with a 30-minute free-form set — improvising layers of voice over his Hokema Sansula using a live looper. The video is as fascinating to watch as it is to listen to. During the live session, many participants vocalized along with him, and we highly encourage you to do the same when listening to the replay.
After his musical offering, host Brandon Blake asked Sri:
"What is it that keeps you free and energized and connected to that part of you, and how can you encourage people?"
Sri answered:
"How do I stay in that freedom? How do I stay in that creative expression? I think association in energy and community that rests in the understanding that our inner-kids need to play — even though we're adults, we need play too. Find other people who are like that, other groups and scenarios, and just put yourself in there. Even if you don't do anything — put yourself in there!"

I have only had my Monolina C for about 10 days, and already I have fallen in love with it. The craftsmanship is beautiful. I purchased the legs and travel bag as well, and yesterday traveled with it to visit a friend who is recovering from surgery. I tried out the placement of the monolina on her body, and she said it felt amazing and reduced her level of discomfort tremendously! I also really appreciate the excellent customer service from Gabriele, who helped me with some questions about purchasing, and then with some initial tuning questions. I was also able to attend one of the Monochord Monday Meet-Ups, which I found very inspiring. I highly recommend both this company and the high quality instruments!

A delicate and elegant musical instrument. I like that it is tuned to key of C. It is not for leaving outside on the patio, but rather kept with other musical instruments. I love the sound of it with my kalimba.
