Couch Tongue Drums are suitable for kids and adults to sit at both ends and play together. The large Tongue Drums have feet on one side, making it possible to flip the drum over so a child or adult can lie on top while the playing surface faces out. In both positions, this melody drum can be played with mallets or hands and fingers. All Couch Tongue Drums have grip holes on the side for easier transportation. The selected, air-dried Padouk wood from Nigeria comes from controlled and certified farming and harvesting.

Tongue Drum for Beginners: How to Play

A wooden tongue drum is one of the easiest instruments to start on. Each tongue is one note, and you play it with mallets or with your hands and fingers. There is nothing to press or hold down, so you can make a pleasing sound in your first minute.

• Start with two tongues. Pick any two and alternate left and right in a slow, steady pulse, like a heartbeat.
• Add a third. Once the pulse feels easy, add one more tongue and let a small pattern repeat.
• Leave space. Let each note ring before the next one. Slow playing sounds fuller on a wooden drum.
