Hokema Saunsula featured on the new album "Kerel" by SRI KALA

Last month our friend Sri Kala released his gorgeous, powerful, celebratory and at times beautifully haunting album Kerel

We're so honored that he features our Sansula by Hokema Kalimbas on his track "Grace". This 8:20 minute musical composition is like a lilting prayer - with cascades of Sansula sometimes leading and sometimes supporting Sri's passionate prayerful vocals. The sounds call and respond to each other, circling and circling and circling like a spiral into the great mysteries - yet ever cycling back to a place of comfort where the listener feels like the wailing inside them has been witnessed and transformed.

We recommend taking a moment to pause, close your eyes, and just listen.

Sri write about this album:

Kerel is a return to birth name, to ancestry, to the voice beneath the noise.

This album traces a journey through spirituality, Africa and lineage, and the raw edges of creative freedom. Born from lived experience and deep listening, Kerel is not just a collection of songs — it is an initiation into remembering.

Each track carries the imprint of land, relationship, and reclamation.
Listen slowly. Let it move through you.

Kerel was shaped inside the living practice of Unravel — a space where voice, movement, shadow, and truth are welcomed without performance.

This is music as return.
