feeltone Monolina Bridges & Template
Turn your Monolina into a melody instrument. Add 5 bridges under the strings and you can tune melody notes and play them intuitively, like a dulcimer or koto. The single notes ring out like splashes of color over the monochord's steady drone.
What you can order
- The set of 5 bridges with one template
- Single bridges
Major or minor pentatonic
The template shows where to place the bridges for a pentatonic major or minor scale. It works with all five Monolina tunings: A, C, F, G and D. Each tuning has its own line on the template, showing which notes to tune the strings to. Once tuned, you can move the bridges between major and minor without retuning.
A folding strip on the template keeps it from sliding while you position the bridges. You can also set up your own tunings, order extra bridges for a diatonic scale, or leave the bridges out entirely.
How to place a bridge
- Lift the string briefly.
- Fit it into the notch of the brass pin on the bridge.
- Set the bridge in the middle of the instrument, then slide it to its spot on the template.
Have a Monolini (21 strings)?
Use only one or two bridges. That leaves enough open strings for the overtones, and the narrower Monolini body isn't built for the extra tension of more bridges, which could damage it over time.
