feeltone Certification Training

A 65-hour Sound Practitioner Course

In-person small-group retreats with official USA feeltone Trainer Joule L’Adara, MFA in Music

Most People Strum.
Trained Facilitators Transform.

Most people think the Monochord is intuitive—and it is. But once you experience what’s possible with focused training, you’ll never play the same way again.

It changes how you play—and how others feel when they listen.
This isn't just a workshop. It's a revelation.

Learn to facilitate deep sound journeys with confidence, presence, and precision.

And here’s what every single student says afterward:
“I had no idea how much more there was to this instrument.”

Level 1: Secrets of the Monochord

Learn to coax the most beautiful harmonics from your monochord with confidence. In this small group retreat (only 2–5 people), you’ll receive direct feedback, group practice sessions, and personalized instruction on playing for meditation, journeying, and on-the-body treatment.

This hands-on intimate intensive workshops will give you the opportunity to play, experience, and learn more about the feeltone Monochords including the Monolini and Monolina body therapy monochords plus the larger Concert and Meditation Monochords. Learn Monochord playing techniques such as: how to create a "flying sound carpet" rich with overtones by bringing out the different harmonics to accent your playing, as well as how to tell evocative stories on the monochord by changing the 5 playing perimeters. You will be given the opportunity to open your ear to the harmonic spectrum, be shown how to differentiate between sound qualities, and understand the difference between tuning options for the different monochord models. You’ll also learn practical care, maintenance, tuning tips, how to change a string, and basic harmonic theory. By the end of the day spent focusing solely on your monochord with the support of our small group, you will have come to a new “attunement” with your instrument, experiencing how playing a Monochord can open a new space for you: allowing you to relax, rejuvenate, and nourish yourself and others.

Level 2: Introduction to feeltone Sound Therapy

Go deeper. Learn to offer entire sound baths, mediation and journeys using just this one powerful instrument, guided by intentional protocols that align with brainwave states. Discover how to craft immersive, life-enhancing sound experiences—not just “relaxing naps,” but transformative inner journeys your clients will return for again and again. Learn powerful playing techniques with specific time durations that will bring your clients into deep relaxation without putting them to sleep so that they may emerge rejuvenated and conscious with deep inner insight that can transform their life. Upon learning the sequence, each student will have the opportunity to lead the group and receive valuable specific feedback.

Level 1-2 "Intensive Week": feeltone Practitioner Training

In this combined Level 1-2 intensive, you'll have the opportunity to learn all the basic playing techniques then immediately put them to use within the feeltone sound therapy protocol. For those attending from afar, this is a chance to travel once and attend both level 1 and 2 back to back. There is always a break of a day and half between training levels to allow your mind, body, and ears to rest in between.

Level 3-4: feeltone Advanced Training Certificate Retreat

The feeltone Advanced Training is for students who have completed Level 1-2, and had time to practice the feeltone protocol with their own community and clients to return with questions and deepen their skills. In this final training of up to 10 participants, we add the elements of rhythm and vocal toning to the feeltone protocol as well as introduce how other sound therapy instrument may be used together with the monochord. We’ll have a collection of other sound therapy instruments including rattles, chimes, kalimbas, tongue drum, handpan, gongs, and singing bowls so that participants may experienced how the instruments they have at home can fit into the protocol in a masterful way. This is a powerful peer-learning experience with the chance to experiment with different instrument combinations, get inspired by one-another's creativity, and receive high-level feedback while having a lot of fun during the Autumn "Peak Leaf"  season in New York’s Hudson Valley.

This is where your intuition

meets skillful mastery

For those interested in feeltone Teacher Training there is a certification series by the feeltone Company that requires multiple in-person trainings only offered in Germany.

"Level 1/2 training for the monochord was one of the best sound facilitation trainings I have ever taken. I learned so much about an instrument I love, but now thoroughly understand how to play for deeply impactful sound sessions. I am much more confident in not only playing the monochord but in how I arrange my sound baths/healings. I am reinvigorated about sound medicine and personally I experienced a profound inner healing. I can't recommend highly enough."

"I loved 'Secrets of the Monochord'. Joule is an amazing teacher and I feel I learned more in two days than I would have playing on my own for a year. The course sparked my interest in growing into sound and sounding as a path for self expression and supporting my clients as well. Definitely recommend!"

- Nikki D'Antoni, Maryland

"This Level 2 training has made such a difference in the way I choose to move forward in my Sound Events. The instructor Joule is a genuine Jewel. Her knowledge, training style and personality made it easy and fun to learn. The Level 2 Monochord Training is a productive well thought out training for Sound Practitioners or anyone who has or is thinking about playing and/or purchasing a monochord. This training is truly valuable for those who plan on playing for one-on-one privates or for groups of people (eg. Sound Bath etc). It has allowed me to realize I can actually have an effective group Sound Experience event and only use the Monochord. I highly recommend this Level 2 Monochord training."-

Monochord Training Level 1 and 2

I just took the week-long monochord training with Joule and fell in love with my Monolina. Joule is a fun, engaging and knowledgeable teacher who brings deep reverence to her instruments and the art of playing them. We got to experiment with and experience all the different ways of expressing through our monochords and came away with a proven, complete and beautiful 45-minute session we can now offer. I highly recommend this class.

In this edited video, Mallika shares with us about her journey in music and inspires us to find "sound intimacy."
